Spreading Smiles with IndiaSterlocked
Happiness is contagious!! And so are germs. What I have observed is that our
country has the two of them growing in the wrong direction. While germs are
spreading like wildfire, happiness is something that has taken the backseat. So,
we found a way to keep the two inversely proportional, but in the right sense.
Sterloc’s
IndiaSterlocked
campaign was started with the vision of making India healthier. Our course of
action was to identify the pockets of our society where hygiene is a core
concern and mitigate that by donating packs of Sterloc. The basic idea is that
with every pack we sell, we will donate one to uplift India. Along the way of
achieving this mission, we discovered that good health automatically instills a
feeling of happiness and comfort among people, no matter where they live. As
much as hygiene is necessary for a good life, it is equally important to smile
through it all. So here we are now, spreading smiles with IndiaSterlocked. After
all, doing something for others is the greatest happiness one could get. We
began our journey in July 2023 by launching our first campaign at Sanskriti
Primary School, Panchkula. We collaborated with Samvaad NGO for this effort, and
they have been with us in this endeavor ever since. This specific campaign was
for class 6th students. Our team, along with Samvaad, interacted with the young
minds, raising awareness about the importance of hygiene and its basic concepts.
Then, one after another, we visited multiple places in our vicinity. From
different schools and classes to slum areas, we covered some untouched corners
of our society, spreading awareness on various social topics like menstrual
hygiene, good touch - bad touch, etc. So far, we’ve been able to conduct 9 such
campaigns in different locations that needed our attention, which was evident in
how the people there responded to our visit. At every place, we were welcomed
with extreme delight. Whether the students, ladies of the slum areas, or even
young kids, everyone participated with immense enthusiasm. You might not believe
the thrill they felt on being a part of something. Although it could have been
influenced by the camera we carried or because we had something for them, it was
still a delightful experience for them as well as for us. Once we realized the
kind of impact and happiness we were bringing to them, we did not limit our
mission to just raising awareness. The beautiful smiles on those faces were a
stimulating factor for us that motivated us to do more and more for them. As
part of our IndiaSterlocked campaign, we aim to inculcate healthier living
habits in areas with improper sanitization and disinfection and save those
precious lives. But in addition to that, we also aim to spread smiles, giving
them a positive approach to life. It is already tough out there, especially in
the conditions they are surrounded with. If one small act from us can make a
huge impact on another life, why deny ourselves the opportunity to receive such
a blessing? So, we as a team pledge to create more opportunities to bring them
not just hygienic living but also huge smiles that will ultimately be the source
of our happiness, hence proving my initial concept of making the two inversely
proportional.
